The Commodore II is one of the best modern office chairs I have used. I come from the old school when it comes to executive type office chairs. High Back, no pneumatics, etc. But, this chair really changed my mind. It is stong and sturdy with great rollers, excellent pneumatics and good firm feel. It is not fancy with a lot of adjustments, but it is very well designed and executed. Highly Recommended, especially for larger people. Also, the delivery speed was excellent and the customer service was great. The assembly took about 30 minutes with help from another person.

I recently purchased this chair after buying a smaller chair from target that wasn't extremely comfortable. This chair is roomier then I expected can handle both me and my girlfriend sitting at in the same time without problems and easily keeps me comfortable for long periods of time. The armrests are well padded as is the rest of the chair. I assembled this chair by myself in about 30 minutes maybe less I wasn't using a stop watch or trying to go extremely fast. If you can get one like I did for around $250 or even a little more it's worth all the money. I don't see having to replace this chair for a long time, the leather is soft and comfortable, and the chrome base and armrest give it a nice modern touch.

I've had this chair for 10 months. It took a while to put together, but that's okay. Wasn't overly troublesome I couldn't imagine it being possible to make it any more simple. I think it's comfortable, and I like it. I weigh much less than the maximum capacity and thought it would be able to hold me no problem. Apparently, I was mistaken. The gas lift and seat plate broke after 7 months. I was able to get them replaced for free via their customer support. However, 3 months later it happened again. It appears to be a very weak solder joint. I also had a problem with the headrest falling apart and a small piece of metal poking through the side of the seat. If it weren't for their great customer support I would probably give them a bad rating due to all of this. However, they have been both willing and quick to help me. They have quickly sent me replacement parts every time I have asked without any hassle.

I understand why the Aeron gets mixed reviews for comfort, and have come to peace with this. For years, I have sat in my company's Aerons, for hours at a time, and loved them. They were comfortable and I wanted one. So, I bought one. I brought it home, sat in it, and within 10 minutes my legs were tingling and after an hour my back and legs were aching. I tried the chair again the next day and had the same problem. The model I bought was a size "B" Aeron. I returned it today for a size "C" (1.5 inches longer seat depth). Now, my legs feel fine. So what gives?

The Caveat: If the Herman Miller sizing chart shows you to be an A/B or B/C - in other words, capable of using a B or C sized seat in my case, watch out. While you might normally think this means that you could 'theoretically' fit in either seat, what it really means is you have a borderline condition and you need to dig deeper. I evaluated this chair, HM Mirra, both the original and version 2 models of the Steelcase Leap, and Humanscale Liberty and Freedom chairs, and ended up with a used original Steelcase Leap high-back.

The Aeron is a good design in my view. But when you're picking out a chair bear in mind the following:

1. Aeron is based on the principle of a rocking chair. The back does recline slightly as you rock back (that is to say, the angle between back and seat increases as you rock back) and that's ergonomically sound as far as sitting in the chair is concerned, but for a desktop computer user it will lower you quite a bit relative to the screen especially since the pivot is close to the front of the seat. The good news is that back support stays very consistent because the back and the seat keep touching each other through the movement. The other models are basically recliners; the seat pan slides slightly forward but does not go down, while the back lowers, so you... Read more

Pros: (#1) Posturefit provides excellent lower back support. (#2) *Full* warranty for 12 years makes it a good, long term investment. (#3) Excellent range of adjustments & features. Forward tilt makes reaching for the keyboard & mouse comfortable & ergonomic. (#4) Well-designed arm pads. I can move the arm pads out of the way when I don't need them by lowering them all the way down

Cons: (#1) Doesn't provide much upper back support. (#2) With the correct chair size, pellicle mesh & hard plastic frame are good but still not as comfortable as memory foam. (#3) The chair is susceptible to defects and breaking down. When my new chair arrived from an authorized dealer, the locking mechanism for forward tilt was faulty.

Other thoughts: (1)Given pro #2 and con #3, buy from an authorized dealer. Warranty is a big part in justifying the cost. Chances are that at some point the chair will need repair and without warranty the individual parts are very expensive! (2) Try the... Read more

I'm a firm believer in the old saying "you get what you pay for." I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions out there, but for the most part, you can't expect to get top quality, top comfort, and top notch warranties at a bargain basement price.

For less than $900, the Aeron chair I bought is far from the most expensive office chair out there, but few would call it cheap. Still, this IS a bargain. It comes with the Herman Miller 10+ year warranty, it's made of very high quality, durable materials, and it looks great.

At 6'1", 270#, I'm not a small guy (a bit of a bear actually :). The size C is plenty large, however, and the whole chair feels rock solid even under my weight. I upgraded to the Wave fabric and am quite glad I did. I have the percale on my Aeron at work, and while it's comfortable, it seems a bit too firm at times. Arrival:
Product arrived in perfect condition.
Assembly:
The only assembly needed was to bolt the back of the chair onto the base of the chair using 4 very sturdy bolts. Unlike other office chairs the bolts screw in from the back, not the sides which helps to give the chair a very solid feeling when sitting in it. The lumbar support was already in place and just needed to be adjusted to my liking after assembly.
Adjustment:
The chair has a variety of adjustments available. Two of them are for limiting the chair's movement when leaning back or forward. This has come in handy a few times but mostly I tend to let the chair have full movement which helps it to support me while I adjust position throughout the day. One of the other adjustments is height. The height adjustment pneumatic seems a little bit more sturdy than other chairs I've had so I hope it lasts longer as that's usually the thing that goes out first. I work as a computer programmer for a living. That means I get to sit in front of a computer at least 8-9 hours a day, sometimes more then 24 hours straight if I have deadlines to meet. I am also a large person, 270+ lbs. No other chair I have ever owned has felt right for me. Most chairs I have used have broken 7-8 months after purchase. Either the main support system cracks, the armrests break off from the back of the chair, or the gas piston falls through the base of the chair when I accidentally sit down on it to fast after 8+ hours of solid work and just one break. This chair is completely different then any other chair I have owned. The base is solid metal, so no breakage possible there. The arms are attached to the structural base of the chair, not the back, and they are independent of the structural integrity of the chair as a whole.
